We are super excited to announce the 2019 Out-of-the-Box Thinking Scholarship winners!
This year, students were asked to come up with the next big idea in pet care and/or animal welfare. This idea could be either a digital product, a physical product, or a marketing campaign related to the pet care industry or animal welfare. Ideas also needed to align with AutoPets’ mission of developing highly functional, connected pet products that make pet care more enjoyable. Each essay had to include how the idea was conceived, why it is needed, what makes it unique, who the target audience is, and what the marketing and retail strategies would be.
2019 Scholarship Winners
Grand Prize $1,250 Scholarship
Claire R. for the Paws Path App. The Paws Path App would locate and rate the best walking routes for dogs based on their, and their owner's, needs, including difficulty level, safety, and sociability.
Second Place $500 Scholarship
Denay G. for the Companion Care App. The Companion Care App would provide consumers with an easy and fun way to determine what animal would best fit their home and the product needs required to care for their new family member.
Third Place $250 Scholarship
Chase C. for Cat&Mouse Pad. Cat&Mouse Pad is a smart, customizable structure that would offer obstacles for a toy mouse to maneuver and hide around. This would create a fun and dynamic environment for a cat that promotes healthy exercise and doesn't get repetitive.
Congratulations to Claire, Denay, and Chase! And special thanks to everyone who applied.
