Born out of a personal need, our founder Brad Baxter inherited two cats and saw first-hand how unsightly the traditional litter box was. Desperate to find a solution to scooping his cats’ litter boxes, Brad set out to solve the problem. Enter: Litter-Robot.

From Brad’s basement to more than 1 million happy cat parents…

1999

Too much poop

After cleaning one too many “liquid gifts” from his calico, Chelsea, Brad set out to invent a self-cleaning litter box that removed the chore of scooping so his cat had a clean bed of litter every time.

1999

The litter box ‘revolution’ is born

The “eureka!” moment came when Brad designed a revolving globe that doesn’t scoop, but uses gravity to sift clumps into a fully enclosed drawer. The first Litter-Robot was here. And it was beautiful.

2000

Priming the world for what’s to come

Along with online sales, you better believe we had a toll-free 1-877 number. The first Litter-Robot was released in ‘custom’ or ‘utility’ color. Call now!

2003

Three men and a cat

Brad, his business partner, Jim, and first ever Wisconsin employee, Phil, set up shop in Sun Prairie, WI, to scale up production.

2005

Litter-Robot 2 arrives

Brad improved upon the original model with a more efficient manufacturing process and waste removal system for a better user experience.

2009

Growing and growing…

Litter-Robot 2 was growing so quickly in popularity that we opened a 32,000ft² manufacturing facility in Juneau, WI just to keep up.

2010

Callie & Todd move in

Two adorable rescues, Callie & Todd, move into Whisker HQ to help with product testing. Difficult to impress, they just made us work even harder.

2015

Litter-Robot 3 takes the world by storm

Litter-Robot 3, a completely redesigned model, features an expansive litter chamber and a larger upward-facing entryway that makes it more inviting and comfortable for large cats.

2017

There’s an app for that

Litter-Robot was reimagined for a new era with the WiFi-enabled Litter-Robot 3 Connect. Cat parents could now view activity and get alerts through our brand-new app.

2021

New name, new ambitions

All of our innovative products are united under our new name, Whisker, with a mission to invent and shape the future of connected pet care and pet wellness insights.

2022

Smarter. Sleeker. Quieter.

Litter-Robot 4 changes the game again with a completely new design and modern aesthetic. The litter box revolution is well underway. And we are just getting started…
