Whisker’s safety standards

Whisker, maker of Litter-Robot®, works actively to address the serious issue of counterfeit Litter-Robot® units. Safety is our highest priority, and we are committed to protecting consumers from purchasing products falsely claimed to be genuine Whisker products.

Unfortunately, we have observed many companies proclaiming to sell Litter-Robot®, the leading automatic litter box, which has resulted in trademark, copyright, and patent infringement. In response, we have established clear protocols for safeguarding copyrights and trademarks, including taking legal action against those involved in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit Litter-Robot® units.

Why counterfeit Litter-Robot® units can be dangerous

As pioneers and leaders of the automatic litter box category, Whisker is backed by more than 20 years of product innovation and continuous technological fine-tuning. By contrast, counterfeit product manufacturers often cut corners to try to get an edge, including omitting technology to safeguard their automatic litter boxes. At best, these knock-offs provide a subpar experience; at worst, they are endangering the lives of pets. Counterfeit Litter-Robot® units may not be supported by years of quality and safety testing as Whisker products are.

Have you bought a counterfeit Litter-Robot® unit?

Counterfeit product manufacturers go to great lengths to make their items appear as genuine as possible. They mislead consumers by using our product name, Litter-Robot®, in internet search results that link to their company websites. Furthermore, they misrepresent the Whisker brand by using similar product logos, photography, taglines, and packaging.

Indicators that you may have purchased a counterfeit product include:

Product design features that vary from genuine Litter-Robot® units (e.g. “cat ears” or other non-functional features, smaller openings, etc.)
Product was purchased from a website or location other than those listed below

Identifying fake Litter-Robot® and Whisker websites

Unfortunately, there are bad actors setting up fake Litter-Robot® and Whisker websites that pretend to sell Litter-Robot® for a steep discount. Things to look out for include:

The URL of the website: misspellings of our name
Steep discounts (in other words, too good to be true) on Litter-Robot® units
Stolen images and media

Reporting counterfeit products

Whisker does not service or warranty counterfeit products. We will not be able to offer consumers a refund for the counterfeit product they may have purchased.
